Protest
Tension is still running high in Hout Bay where unhappy residents demonstrated for the third day in a row in the town located near Cape Town in South Africa.
Hundreds of defiant demonstrators took to the streets in the early hours on Monday, reportedly setting several vehicles on fire, destroying properties and throwing traffic into disarray. The anti-riot police said they arrested four people as they tried to disperse the crowd.
One man was seriously injured when he sustained a gunshot wound during the protest. It is unclear whether the shot was fired by protestors or law enforcement officials.
Residents in Hout Bay have been denouncing the City of Cape Town’ failure to deliver basic services in Imizamo Yethu within a promised three-month period following devastating fires in March.
